Assembly poll in Durgapur on 7th May

People of Durgapur will cast their vote on 7th May 2011 to elect their representatives in the forthcoming Legislative assembly. Durgapur is having two seats in the State Legislative assembly. Polling for both the seats will be held simultaneously on 7th May. In the present assembly, both the seats are held by CPI (M) candidates of ruling left front.
Durgapur – considered being a strong Left bastion is expected to witness a tough fight this time. Although it is not clear, whether Congress or Trinamool Congress will field in their candidate against CPI (M) candidate, but it’s almost certain that the anti-left vote will not be divided.
Election for the 294 seat West Bengal Assembly will be held in six-phase, beginning on 18th April and will ending on 10th May. Counting of the votes will be on 13th May 2011 and complete results will be announced by 4 PM on the same day. Assembly poll of Bengal has attracted huge national and international media attention and interest, because it is for the first time that the Communist Government in West Bengal, ruling for over 34 years, is expected to face the toughest challenge this time.
At a time when Durgapur is developing fast and is all set to be a mega-city with diversified fields of interest, this election is extremely important and holds the key for its future development.
