Asim Bandhu Mukherjee (56), an assistant manager of SAIL’s Durgapur Steel Plant Hospital’s central store was found hanging in his residence at Krittibas Road of the Steel Township last evening. The incident created a sense of disbelief among the neighbours and friends of Asim. Bandhu.
Police, led by ADCP, Mr Sunil Yadav, found a suicide note where it was written that due to unbearable mental pressure mounted on him by one AGM, Mr Gautam Chakraborty, Asim has committed suicide. Sources revealed that Mr Gautam Chakraborty has been the immediate boss of Asim Bandhu.
Asim, according to his colleagues and police, was suffering from mental distress after his wife died one and a half year ago.
His only son, Mr Arindam Mukherjee, whose marriage was scheduled on 18 November is an electrical engineer with a fly-ash brick company and is posted in Farakka, Murshidabad.
Police have engaged handwriting experts to ascertain if the suicide note recovered from the house of the deceased SAIL manager was inked by him.
Mr Yadav said: “We have engaged an investigating officer to probe the matter and handwriting experts have also been assigned to examine the suicide note.”
