Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), one of the four integrated steel plant of the Maharatna PSU Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has recorded an all-time best performance in the first half of the current financial year. DSP achieved this best ever first half performance in the production of hot metal, crude steel, saleable steel, energy efficeient continuous casting, blend mix and sinter in the period of April ’12 to September ’12.
As compared to the production in the first half of the previous financial year 2011-12, the production of hot metal, crude steel, saleable steel, concast production, blend mix and sinter witnessed an impressive growth of 7%, 5%, 5%, , 6%, 10% and 14% respectively in the first half of the current financial year of 2012-13. The production of special steel and value-added products in H1 of the current financial year recorded an astounding growth of 17% over corresponding period of the last financial year. Moreover, at present, special steel and value-added steel, which are in great demand, constituted 77% of the total saleable steel production of DSP.
On speaking about this great performance, CEO of DSP, Mr. P.K. Singh said, “We have taken proactive approaches and have adopted integrated strategies to enhance production in every front on a sustained basis. Our approaches and strategies coupled with synergy among all departments have yielded result with best ever H1 performance in the history of DSP”.
