A CISF constable of Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) impersonating as a CBI officer was taken into custody by Durgapur police yesterday morning. Police sources said that the constable was trying to influence the Commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force of DSP.
The CISF constable, Vikram Singh Rathore, a resident of Rajasthan, was shifted from Haldia Dock Complex to SAIL’s Durgapur Steel Plant seven months ago. Last week he was put on guard inside the plant premises. Seems to be dissatisfied with his transfer, the constable resorted to the act of posing as CBI official and give threat calls to roll back his transfer orders.
A toy gun, two digital tabs, four cell phones and two sets of police uniform has been seized from his possession.
The CISF commandant at DSP, Mr Vinod Sharma complained to police that one of his constables, Vikram Singh Rathore, calling himself a CBI officer, had been giving threat calls for quite some days. Mr. Sharma said: “I had received several fictitious phone calls threatening that action would be initiated against me if I don’t roll back the transfer order of constable Rathore.” Based on the complain, police then tracked the call and found out that the calls were indeed made from Rathrore’s cell phone.
Mr Sunil Yadav, ADCP Asansol Durgapur Police said: “He also used to threaten the Railway officials.” The person was taken into custody and was forwarded to the Durgapur court.
