Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) organized a cycle rally yesterday to create awareness among common people about the need to conserve petroleum products.
The cycle rally held by the PSU oil major began from its Rajbandh Terminal point in Kanksa of Durgapur and ended at Durgapur’s Bidhannagar locality. Mayor, Durgapur Municipal Corporation, Mr Apurba Mukherjee who is also the local MLA flagged off the rally from the Rajbandh depot.
The BPCL’s terminal with 165000 kilo litre monthly intake capacity caters the need of petroleum products for four South Bengal districts beside parts of Jharkhand.
Mr Amarnath Deb, Terminal Manager (Retail) said: “Regular servicing of vehicles, maintaining moderate speed would help the country to save at least 15 per cent of present fuel cost.”
We all know India is facing a severe fuel crisis. In view of this, this kind of initiatives to spread awareness for fuel conservation amongst common people is indeed a laudable step.
