DSP contributing towards social responsibility

Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), a unit of the Navaratna PSU, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is doing a commendable job for the weaker and under privileged section of the society under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme. Producing steel and making profit has never been the only agenda of DSP. It has never sighed away from its responsibility towards the society.

T.N.School of Durgapur

In the steel township as well as in the some parts of the outskirts, DSP is running several school directly or provides financial aid for mid-day meals, books, stationeries, uniforms and even shoes. DSP has also extended its hand in providing drinking water, road to a number of villages around Durgapur. Recently, DSP has provided infrastructural aid for Tarak Nath Institution, one of the oldest schools of Durgapur situated near Durgapur Railway Station. They have renovated the school thoroughly including the library room, reading room, computer laboratory, auditorium and girl’s common room as well.
Tark Nath Institution (TN Institution) is a co-educational high school was established in 1941 even before India became independent. The school recognized as a high school in 1943 and was upgraded to higher secondary in 1957. The new infrastructure will definitely create a better learning environment in the school. Inaugurating the new infrastructural facility of the school, the Executive Director (Material Management) of DSP, Mr. Shantanu Chakrobarty reiterated DSP’s commitment to any future support for the school.
