DSP wins coveted national award

Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), an integrated steel plant under Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has recently added another feather in its cap. DSP has recently own the prestigious Golden Peacock National Quality award for 2011, conferred by the Institute of Directors, New Delhi. The award was given in recognition of its overall performance towards quality management in the plant.

Dr. A.K.Ray, General Manager (Quality), DSP received the award from Union Minister of Corporate affairs, Dr. M.Veerappa Moily, at a glittering ceremony in Bangalore. The Golden Peacock National Award, named after India’s national bird, is an annual award with two categories – the winners and the runners up. Each winner and runners receives trophy together with a certificate. While deciding the winner of the award, factors that are taken into consideration includes, efforts and performance of the organization in all aspects of its activities including production, process, partnership, HR, training, corporate social responsibility, etc.
Expressing his satisfaction on winning this coveted award, the CEO of DSP, Mr. P.K.Bajaj says, “ Quality management is well entrenched into the activities of the organization. The award is a testimony to our sincere efforts towards quality management in the plant.”
