Durgapur (East) zonal secretary of CPM, Bivu Chakraborty has lodged a complaint with the police that their party supporters and members are being implicated in false case by Trinamool Congress. Though Trinamool sources have denied such allegation, but the police has assured that the complaint will be investigated.
Mr. Chakraborty has alleged that after a party workshop in an auditorium in Bidhan Nagar on 7thy April, many of those who attended the meeting from Shankarpur, Kaligunj and Totakhola village were given threat calls by Trinamool men on the same night. He also added that, on 8th April some Trinamool men went to the house of CPM party member, Tarun Kar of Totakhola village. But Mr. Kar was not at home, unable to find him; TMC men threatened and abused his wife.
Mr. Chakrobarty said that Trinamool Congress is threatening CPM supporters and members and are also advising them to stay away from the upcoming Panchayat poll or face dire consequences.
CPM local committee secretary of Bidhan Nagar- Jemua, Pankaj Roy Sarkar has also alleged that Trinamool congress men are lodging false complain against CPM party supporters and members so as to create an atmosphere of fear before the Panchayat election.
After the incidence of man-handling of state finance minister Amit Mitra by SFI supporters in Delhi on 9th April, Trinamool Congress organized a rally in Bidhan Nagar area. Trinamool Congress has lodged a complaint against several CPM party leaders of attacking the rally with arms and even violating the modesty of women present in the rally.
Those named in the complaint includes, Pankaj Roy Sarkar, Kabi Ghosh, Sukhen Sarkar, Binoyendra Kishore Chackrobarty.
Mr. Pankaj Roy Sarkar said that the allegations are totally baseless. He added, naming veteran CPM leader Sukhen Sarkar in the complaint, who is a patient of asthma reveals the falsehood of the complaint.
Mr. Roy Sarkar further said, “There are 13 Panchayat seats, 3 Panchayat Samiti seats and 1 Zila parishad seats in the Bidhan Nagar-Jemua area. Trinamool is trying to create a sense of fear so that CPM can’t find candidates even to field in the upcoming Panchayat election. CPM men’s moral can’t be weakened in this way.”
One of Trinamool Block President, Mr. Sunil Chattopadhay has said that CPM’s allegations are baseless. Police has however assured of looking after the allegation of CPM with due diligence.
