Yesterday, Barabani near Asansol saw unruly supporters of Trinamool Congress vandalizing the venue of the 8th conference of DYFI’s Barabani Local Committee No. 01. During flag hoisting ceremony of the conference at Buradanga of Barabani yesterday, 15 to 20 men armed with hockey stick and iron rod suddenly attacked the DYFI men and a kind violence broke out. The stage was broken, chairs and tables were thrown away and the whole venue was virtually vandalized. Three supporters of Trinamool Congress and few of the DYFI activists were injured. The injured people were admitted to a local hospital.
DYFI, the CPM’s youth wing supporters alleges that these men were all Trinamool supporters. Sources say that even these men fired five rounds of bullet at the DYFI supporters. Trinamool leaders however have ruled out the involvement of their supporters in it. Going further, TMC’s Barabani MLA, Bidhan Upadhyay said that the incident is the result of infighting between different CPM groups.
