Maruti’s logistic hub at Panagarh near Durgapur

Maruti Suzuki – India’s largest car manufacturer has shown interest to set up its eastern India logistic hub at Panagarh near Durgapur. Panagarh is situated at distance of just 13 Km from the industrial town of Durgapur. Panagarh is strategically located on the Durgapur Expressway and enjoys a name for itself as the centre for repairing of bus, truck and heavy vehicles and also the scrapyard of old vehicles.
The auto giant is planning to invest some 100 crore for its proposed warehousing facility for 10,000-15,000 cars, a servicing unit and a store house for automobile spares. It will also have a training facility. The auto behemoth is eyeing some 60 acres of land for which the executive director (Production Engineering), Mr. R. Dayal met the industry minister Mr. Partha Chatterjee. Speaking to the media, Mr. Dayal further divulged that they are keen on setting up a second logistic hub at Siliguri as well. About Durgapur unit, Maruti Suzuki is interested to have the land beside the Golden Quadrilateral highway. Maruti Suzuki known for its after sales service feels that this will further strengthen its bond with customers.
