As the court given surrender deadline for the three absconding directors of Axes Multi Developers of Durgapur expired yesterday Asansol-Durgapur police will now speed up the process of seizing the assets of the company, as was directed by the court.
Police has been probing multiple cases of cheating against the Axes group of Durgapur following a court order to investigate upon a complaint of cheating against Axes lodged by Arijit Das of Andal in Durgapur court.
More than two months have elapsed since the first case of cheating was lodged and the three directors of Axes Multi Developers, Katyayan Bhattacharyya, Satyabrata Basu and Saraswati Basu fled. Police have however failed not been able to arrest any one of them, raising question mark over police investigation.
On 19th June Court ordered that the three absconding directors of Axes group must surrender on or before 4th July; failing which their assets will be seized. The deadline for the surrender ended on Thursday and as revealed by the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate (East), Sunil Yadav, steps to seize the assets of the company will be initiated. The 49 bank accounts of the company with different banks have already been seized by the police.
After the first complaint lodged against Axes Multi Developers, many more complaints of cheating has also been lodged against the company which apart from dealing in land and real estate, runs a local news channel by the name of Info, has hotels, resorts and several deposit mobilizing schemes as well.
The media division is reported to be quite close with Trinamool Congress leadership. Ironically, Durgapur Mayor, Apurba Mukherjee has often been seen sharing the dais with directors of Axes. Axes director Katyayan Bhattacharyya was even seen felicitating Mukherjee when he was elected the mayor.
Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate (East), Sunil Yadav while speaking to the media said that he is hopeful that the absconding trio will soon be arrested. He also said that the police have information that all the three is in India only and has not managed to leave the country.
