Not only Kolkata where the “God of Cricket”, Sachin Tendulkar is playing the penultimate match of his international career but the entire Bengal is under the grip of Sachin fever. Entire Bengal is pulling out all stops to give Sachin Tendulkar a grand farewell in his 199th test match.
Sunit Chakroborty of Durgapur has found a unique way to pay his tribute to the master blaster. Chakroborty who already holds a record in reverse gear driving and has his name in “Limca Book of Records” drove his car on reverse gear from Durgapur to Eden Gardens in Kolkata — about 199 km in distance!
Sunit Chakroborty, a resident of A-Zone of Durgapur Steel Township has earlier drove 2342 Km in reverse gear in 2011, when he went to Mumbai from Kolkata to congratulate the world cup winning Indian cricket team. There he met Sachin in his Bandra house.
In 2006 Sachin even signed in his car when he met Sachin in Kolkata during a test match cricket.
Chakroborty says this is his way of showing his gratitude to the god of cricket. His car was flagged off on Tuesday by the ADDA chairman and Durgapur MLA, Mr. Nikhil Bandyopadhyay and cheering Sachin fans.
“I want too felicitate Tendulakar on his 199th Test century by driving on reverse gear from Durgapur to Eden Garden. The reason is Sachin himself loves to drive on reverse gear,” he said.
“With this I too want to give a message that if I can drive on reverse gear, then a man too can avert accident if he drives carefully,” he said.
He said he wanted Sachin to join him on reverse driving for a day.
