West Bengal student-youth festival at Durgapur

Six day long West Bengal Student and Youth Festival was inaugurated at Durgapur. Bhagat Singh stadium at City Centre of Durgapur was the venue of this festival in which about 2500 participants from 19 districts of West Bengal is participating in this festival. The stadium was packed to its capacity on the inauguration ceremony and shows the kind of enthusiasm this festival has generated in the mind of the people of Durgapur.
Eminent sports personalities like Chuni Goswami (former Indian footballer), Dibyendu Barua (Chess Grandmaster), Bula Chowdhury (Swimmer who crossed English Channel), Debashis Biswas (Everest climber), and Bhaskar Ganguly (Former goal keeper of Indian football team) along with other stalwarts from various fields were present in the inauguration ceremony which was inaugurated by Youth and Sports Minister of West Bengal, Mr. Kanti Ganguly.
West Bengal Government is organizing this Student Youth festival every year since 1978. Cultural programme will be held simultaneously for six days at 12 different stages spread over various parts of the Steel City of Durgapur. Sports events will be held in two different stadiums. This is a real big challenge for Durgapur to host this festival in good spirit and prove that Durgapur has the capability to host event like this successfully.
