State industry minister Mr. Partha Chatterjee, accompanied by agriculture minister Moloy Ghatak met Trinamool leaders and Essar Oil official at Durgapur yesterday to resolve the deadlock surrounding Essar’s Coal Based Methane project. Villagers led by Trinamool leaders stopped production of CBM at Essar Oil’s well in Akandara village of Durgapur on Sunday.

After a wait of almost three years the WEBEL technology park near Gandhi More of Durgaur has finally found some taker. Essar Oil, the oil exploration company setting up offices at the IT park has, however, triggered a controversy as the park was meant to be used by IT companies. The energy major has come to Webel’s rescue by taking possession of 32,000 square feet of the total 100,000 square feet area available in the technology park.
Yesterday after inaugurating the exploration and production office of Essar in Durgapur for its CBM operations at WEBEL IT Park near Durgapur’s Gandhi More, commerce and industry minister Mr. Partha Chetterjee advised industrialists to win hearts before setting up projects in an area and hire workers from among the residents. This has surprised many.
