The much awaited Panagarh bypass which have been completed three months ago and has been awaiting inauguration was officially made open to public yesterday afternoon by Union minister after a mock inauguration in noon hour by a state minister.
In a very significant decision, Bengal Government has decided to buy the entire land which is in controversy due to a land scam row, to give permanent infrastructure to the annual “Maati Utsav” held at Panagarh adjacent to Durgapur.
Durgapur police yesterday (2 June) arrested a Trinamool Congress supporter in connection with the mass theft of infrastructural materials of the 83 stalls erected during the annual Mati Utsav by the Public Works Department this year in Birudiha near Panagarh, barely 13 Km from Durgapur.
Three passengers boarding a Durgapur bound bus from Bolpur were killed and around 30 injured when the speeding passenger bus, overturned near Panagarh yesterday evening. This is the second accident in last two months near Panagarh due to poor road condition.
